Join us as we recognize 2018 Champions for Biotechnology Education. This event is reception-style, featuring a jazz trio, passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations, and hosted bar. A silent auction and reception will be followed by a short speaking program during which three honorees will receive their awards. All event proceeds support MassBioEd’s mission to build a sustainable life sciences workforce in the region through educational programs that inspire and propel students, engage and excite teachers, and illuminate the pathway from classroom to careers. In 2017: Engaging Teachers: MassBioEd’s flagship program BioTeach provided lab-based training to 140 teachers from 75 schools, impacting over 10,000 high school students throughout Massachusetts and beyond. These students learned compelling biotechnology concepts through hands-on, inquiry-based lessons. Inspiring Students: 1,188 students participated in college and career exploration events, inclusive of lab-activities, discussions with mentors, thus gaining insinght into the wide range of career opportunities that await them in the life sciences. Illuminating Pathways: In pursuit of our vision to grow a talented workforce to sustain a world-class life sciences industry, MassBioEd published its four Quarterly Job Trends Reports, its Annual Job Trends Forecast, and the first Life Sciences Entry Level Jobs Report. We continued providing industry endorsements of college programming and convening the Annual Life Science Workforce Conference to better align higher education programming with the needs of the industry and to reduce the skills gap and fulfill demand for talent.
