NEHI’s 2019 Innovators in Health Awardees are: Dr. Joan Reede; Dr. Sonia Vallabh & Dr. Eric Minikel; & The Red Sox Foundation. Join NEHI in celebrating their contributions in health and health care.

NEHI is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that seeks to advance innovations that improve health, enhance the quality of health care, and achieve greater value for the money spent. In support of our mission, each year we seek out and celebrate forward-looking leaders and thinkers whose work exemplifies innovation in health, health care, technology, and the life sciences. Join us on September 25th as we celebrate NEHI’s 2019 Innovator in Health Awardees: – Dr. Joan Reede, President and Chair of the Biomedical Science Careers Program, and Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School (NEHI’s 2019 Henri A. Termeer Memorial Innovator in Health Award recipient): Dr. Reede will be recognized for her long-standing leadership in the Commonwealth to promote the advancement of underrepresented minority faculty, students, and professionals pursuing careers in the biomedical and health sciences. – Dr. Sonia Vallabh and Dr. Eric Minikel, Associated Scientists of Prions@Broad at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard: Dr. Vallabh and Dr. Minikel will be recognized for their courage and initiative in pursuing a cure for genetic prion diseases as a result of a uniquely personal connection to this rare disease. An inspiring example of patient-driven biopharmaceutical innovation, Dr. Vallabh and Dr. Minikel’s work will profoundly impact this underserved patient population. – The Red Sox Foundation, accepted by Bekah Salwasser, Executive Director: The Red Sox Foundation will be recognized for its impact on health and health care through its commitment to community and Veterans health. We will recognize the Red Sox Foundation in particular for its dedication and service to addressing the invisible needs of Veterans, service members, and their families through its Home Base initiative and partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital. NEHI’s Innovators in Health Awards draws a crowd of over 200 C-suite and senior leaders from all sectors of health care.
