SUMMARY:Harvard Medical School Executive Education Webinar: Genomics of Common Diseases: From Discovery to Translation
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, Dr. Sek Kathiresan will share his insights on the practical\, real-world translation of genomics for clinical practice and novel therapeutics development. \nFor common diseases of complex etiology such as myocardial infarction\, gene discovery studies have implicated causative genes and validated drug targets. Recently\, enthusiasm is growing for front-line applications of common disease genomics for clinical practice and therapeutics development. For instance\, polygenic risk scores (PRS) offer the potential to stratify disease susceptibility for broad populations at birth\, but strategies for clinical use are under active debate. Furthermore\, newer therapeutic modalities such as RNAi or genome editing raise the prospect of more rapid translation of genomic insights into therapies. Dr. Sek Kathiresan\, CEO of Verve Therapeutics and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (on leave)\, is a world-renowned pioneer in the genomics of cardiovascular disease. In this webinar\, he will share his insights on the practical\, real-world translation of genomics for clinical practice and novel therapeutics development.

SUMMARY:Strategic Approaches To Developing And Commercializing Companion Diagnostics
DESCRIPTION:Out of concern for the health of the entire MassBio community\, this event has been cancelled. \nJoin us to learn more about the journey of developing a companion diagnostic from discovery through commercialization. \nPrecision medicine is an emerging method that factors in an individual’s molecular profile\, environment\, and lifestyle in order to prevent\, diagnose\, and treat diseases more effectively. It’s about considering individual differences in the course of prevention\, diagnosis\, and treatment. Patients can be classified into subgroups based on how susceptible they are to certain diseases\, how those diseases will develop\, or how they’ll respond to particular treatments. This information can then be used to predict what the most effective course of action will be. Companion Diagnostics are tools employed to identify those patients who are most likely to benefit from a particular therapeutic product\, highlight those at increased risk for serious side effects\, and monitor treatment response. But what about those tasked with bringing precision medicine tests and treatments to the market? What are they doing\, what challenges do they face\, and how are they working with stakeholders within the wider healthcare ecosystem? We’ll follow the journey of developing a companion diagnostic from discovery through commercialization and answer those questions in this informative forum. Please come prepared with your questions. Sponsored by the Medtech/Digital Health working group. Thanks to Foundation Medicine for hosting our forum at their Cambridge office. Please be sure to bring ID to enter the building.

Global Regulatory bodies are aligning on their demands for electronic data and submissions. We will explore how cos. are approaching & best practices. \nThe digital transformation imperative has hit pharmaceutical R&D. Global biopharma regulatory bodies have taken note as they align even more than ever on their demands for electronic data and submissions as well as on regulatory requirements both pre- and post- approval. For regulatory affairs leaders and professionals this evolution on how we conduct business is game changing as the function moves from pulling together dossiers from documents and spreadsheets to creating electronic submissions derived from digital data sources and conducting real-time monitoring and ownership of product\, clinical\, and safety data. The benefit of this change for regulatory departments is tighter relationships across their organizations\, providing competitive advantage for their companies and attaining more strategic seats at the management and executive level tables. In this forum we will explore how regulatory affairs leaders are approaching digital transformation in their respective company and their recommendations to the audience of best practices. We’ll get insights from data experts / strategic services partners helping to accelerate adoption of digital innovation for their clients.
