SUMMARY:Women Leadership in Biotech Summer Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:In this four-part webinar series\, women leaders will speak about their career journeys and offer advice around the challenges and opportunities in navigating a biotech career. This free webinar series is designed primarily for women leaders at all levels\, but all are welcome. \nThe 2022  topics include: \n\nAddressing Imposter Syndrome in Biotech Leadership and How to Mitigate it\nThe Founder’s Journey: A Guide to Starting a Biotech\n\nJuly 25\, 2022  | 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET\nTwo extraordinary biotech founders Dr Pamela Contag and Dr Jo Viney\, together with moderator Dr Anna Frostegård\, share their journeys building biotech companies\, from initial inception\, investment\, development through to IPO. They will discuss key aspects of building a biotech\, challenges\, and what they wish they had known before embarking on their founders journey.\n\n\nNow that You Have a Seat on the Board\, What to Expect and How to Influence\n\nAugust 3\, 2022  | 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET\nThe board of directors play an essential role in assessing the overall direction and strategy of a business. In this webinar we address what to expect and how to influence as a board member. More specifically:  \n\nHow to break in once you’re on the board?\nHow you operate once you’re on the board\nKey pieces of advice\nHow do you ensure that you pave the way for future women on the board\nAddressing DEI\n\n\n\n\nHow to be Proactive as a Networker\n\nAugust 17\, 2022  | 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET\nWe all know that networking is essential in building a community\, ideas and actions. Networking can at times require a strategic and creative approach. It can also require planning and most certainly stepping outside one’s comfort zone. In this webinar\, our group of experienced biotech executives share best practices on how to be a more effective networker and how to maximize networking opportunities. In addition\, we also address: \n\nHow to evaluate women networking groups\nA look at traditional male networking\nHow to seek out people who can amplify your opportunity to build your personal brand and network\nCase examples

SUMMARY:Engineering strategies for improving adoptive T cell therapy against cancer
DESCRIPTION:The adoptive cell transfer (ACT) of tumor-specific T cells has emerged as a potent treatment against some advanced cancers. For example\, ACT of ex vivo expanded tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) has achieved durable and complete responses in about 20% of melanoma patients receiving a single transfusion. In addition\, TCR-redirected T cells targeting the cancer testis antigen NY-ESO-1157-165 have shown important clinical promise against melanoma\, myeloma\, and synovial sarcoma. Furthermore\, ACT with peripheral blood T cells gene-modified to express chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells targeting the B-cell lineage antigen CD19 has led to complete remission for up to 90% of some advanced\, treatment-refractory hematological cancer patients. \nHowever\, unprecedented responses to CAR therapy have not been achieved against epithelial-derived solid tumors\, the most common category of cancers. Indeed\, solid tumors present a variety of barriers to CAR therapy\, including that there is a lack of tumor antigens not also found on healthy tissues\, thus running the risk of on-target but off-tumor toxicity. Hence\, both TCR- and CAR T cells face various immunosuppressive barriers in the solid tumor microenvironment (TME)\, which can be detrimental to their persistence and function. \nCreative Biolabs has invited Dr. Melita Irving to join us in this webinar section and discuss the latest findings of her research team on an innovative CAR design\, hoping to provide insights into the engineering strategies for improving the efficacy and safety of CAR and TCR cell therapies against cancer. \nDuring this webinar\, the following topics will be discussed: \nThe use of syngeneic tumor models to evaluate the ability of co-engineered murine CAR T cells to reprogram the TME and boost T cell function\nThe use of low doses of irradiation to inflame cold tumors and render them responsive to rational combinatorial immunotherapy\nThe novel STOP-CAR integrates efficacy and safety directly into CAR design
