The State’s unified response to the COVID-19 pandemic gives many hope that what were once intractable difficulties in providing quality healthcare to under-served communities can in fact be addressed\, if the forces of academia\, government and industry act in concert. \nWhile the momentum to address these issues is undeniable\, there is a window of opportunity for action by industry leaders that must be seized\, with new ways of thinking applied to address layers of challenges that have built up over decades. \nPlease join us on Thursday\, October 26\, for an afternoon designed to discuss and actively define — through breakout discussion sessions – what new and urgent actions are required by industry leaders to accelerate the closing of critical health equity gaps. SUMMARY:Using Evidence and Data to Illuminate Our Food Systems
DESCRIPTION:We are embedded in a crowded\, complex landscape of global challenges—climate change and environmental degradation\, mounting social upheaval and inequities\, and increasing public health and food insecurity risks. Food systems sit at the center of these challenges and constitute major causes of the climate crisis. But they can also be key parts of the solution. \nAt a time when facts and data are often openly regarded as suspect by political leaders and business interests\, the rigors of evidence-based research may help to bring about wholesale changes in attitudes\, political discourse\, and social action. Innovations in data gathering and analysis will play a vital role in charting a positive and sustainable direction for food system transformation. \nJessica Fanzo\, a climate\, nutrition\, and immunology expert\, will discuss how these innovations can illuminate our complex food systems and also equip decision-makers to navigate the difficult course of making our food systems more resilient in the face of the climate crisis and environmental instability. She will highlight recent developments her team has initiated\, including the Food Systems Dashboard and the Food Systems Countdown Initiative.

DESCRIPTION:Two day short course for individuals that are involved in product and process development\, regulatory\, quality assurance and control and manufacturing of biotech therapeutics. Attendees from academia and regulatory agencies may also benefit depending on their areas of interest and level of experience. \nThis course aims to clarify the key concepts that interplay in defining and implementing QbD and PAT towards development and manufacturing of biotech products. This will be achieved via a sequence of lectures and group work.
