SUMMARY:MLSC 2021 Tax Incentive Program Info Session
DESCRIPTION:MLSC Tax Incentive program supports companies engaged in life sciences research and development\, commercialization and manufacturing in MA. \nThe Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) will be launching the next round of the Tax Incentive program supporting companies engaged in life sciences research and development\, commercialization and manufacturing in Massachusetts. The program provides incentives to companies\, of all sizes\, looking to expand their efforts by creating new\, long-term jobs in Massachusetts. \nThe MLSC will be holding an informational session for companies wanting to learn more about the eligibility requirements of the Tax Incentive program. Join us on Jan. 11 at 12 p.m. \nThe MLSC will be accepting applications for the Tax Incentive program from Dec. 6\, 2021 – Feb. 4\, 2022. Learn more about the program. \nA special thank you to our partners at the Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives for hosting.

SUMMARY:Designing and Implementing AI Solutions for Health Care
DESCRIPTION:Applications of artificial intelligence in health care are expanding rapidly. Despite its great long-term potential\, risks and challenges remain for both AI developers and their partners in health care\, the life sciences industry and digital health. \nThis Harvard Medical School Executive Education program will allow leaders across the ecosystem to gain insights into what it takes to successfully utilize AI in the unique cultural\, economic and regulatory context of health care. Interactive sessions will address technical concepts as well as real-world implementation\, with examples drawn from health care delivery/operations and drug development. \nThe curriculum will feature a combination of live virtual class sessions\, small group application exercises\, pre-work and vigorous discussions. Upon completion of the program\, participants will be able to immediately apply insights gained to the fast-moving and complex health care sector. A certificate of completion will be provided.

SUMMARY:SeXX and Immunity: Exploring the impact of female biology on immune responses to infectious disease
DESCRIPTION:It’s Time to Address a Knowledge Gap\nThe X chromosome does more than determine sex! When we treat biological sex (XX versus XY chromosomes) as a variable in immunity and diseases\, it can lead to a new understanding of the underpinnings of disease. The COVID-19 pandemic helped amplify awareness about sex-specific differences in immunity against infection\, however\, we still have a lot to learn. Sex differences in disease outcomes are not limited to infectious diseases – they are observed in outcomes of autoimmune diseases and cancers\, and even in response to vaccination. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMIT’s “SeXX and Immunity” Series Addresses Gap\nOn January 19\, 2022\, MIT will kick off a new series of discussions and seminars called “SeXX and Immunity.” These sessions will explore our understanding of sex differences and sex dimorphism in relation to immune responses and how presentations of infectious diseases differ based on biology. \nOur first session will feature Dr. Sabra Klein of Johns Hopkins University\, for a talk titled “SeXX matters for viral infection and vaccination.” \n\n\n\n\n\nSeminar at 4:00PM\, 32-144 \nPoster Session Reception at 5:00PM\, R&D Commons \nRegistration Information\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPre-registration deadline: January 18\, 2022 at 12:00PM\nAfter this time\, onsite registration may be available on a space-permitting basis. \nRegistration Fees (in USD) \n— Industry: $25 \n— Academic: $10 \n— Students: Complimentary (must register with academic email address and present a valid student ID.) \n— Poster Submitters: Complimentary with submitted poster (must attend in person. Poster submitters will receive information separately about abstract submission.) \n— Virtual Attendance: Complimentary (poster session not included.) \nNOTE: No refunds can be issued for changes from in-person to virtual attendance. \nPayment methods accepted: Card Card (MasterCard\, Visa\, AMEX\, Discover) or MIT account number. Registration fees are not refundable.

SUMMARY:Novel Design Strategies for Effective Next-Generation Nuclear Localization Signal (NLS)-Therapeutics
DESCRIPTION:In this technical session\, Creative Biolabs has invited Dr. Leyton to describe the need to develop a more precise method in investigating nuclear transport dynamics of NLS-therapeutics. Moreover\, Dr. Leyton will also present a de novo approach for generating novel NLSs with an atypical zero net-charge and evaluating various strategies to determine the worth for integration into NLS-therapeutics development. \nDuring this webinar\, we will discuss the following key points: \n• Why nuclear targeting improves drug efficacy\n• How nuclear transport functions\n• What are the significant challenges for pharmaceuticals targeting the nucleus
