Tufts Research Forums 2021: Successes and Challenges of the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout in the Global Context

Building on the themes that emerged from the Tufts 2020 COVID-19 Research Symposium: Research. Policy. Solutions, the Office for the Vice Provost for Research will host a series of Research Forums this year. Curated by the COVID-19 Research Steering Committee, these forums highlight Tufts’ unique niche in the research landscape and its ability to address issues in research equity and health to positively impact our local and global communities. The first topic of the series is Successes and Challenges of the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout in the Global Context.

This event will explore critical issues related to the development and implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program across the globe. After brief presentations, the conversation will focus on how to ensure equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

The expert panel will include Dr. Salim Abdool Karim, FRS, Director of the Centre for the AIDS Program of Research in South Africa, and Dr. Ramanan Laxminaryanan, Founder and Director of the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy, presenting on India. The session will be moderated by Dr. Simone Wildes, a Tufts Medical Center affiliated Infectious Disease Physician based out of South Shore Hospital and a member of the Massachusetts COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Group.
