Dear Partners:
The past year demonstrated once again the power of collaboration and public investment in the life sciences. The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) team ran a myriad of programs supporting companies of all sizes and sub-sectors, helping create jobs, spurring R&D and commercialization, providing strategic capital investments, and supporting the next generation of our life sciences workforce.
It is quite fitting that the one-year anniversary of me taking the helm of the Center dovetails with the turning of the page on this momentous year. I have no doubt 2022 will once again put a spotlight on the important role our ecosystem serves not only for our Commonwealth’s innovation economy, but also for patients around the world.
However, we are in a moment where we cannot take anything for granted. Yes, we have a great deal to be proud of, but the next chance to retain our leadership post is right in front of us. It is why my team and I remain keenly focused on key areas, such as supporting our industry’s commercialization efforts, driving innovation, prioritizing regional growth of the life sciences, building pipelines to meet the robust demand of employers, and leveraging the life sciences to engage those underrepresented in our ecosystem.
We remain your partner in service of discovery, development, and cultivation of the life sciences ecosystem across Massachusetts.
In closing, I want to relay my sincere gratitude for all our cross-sector partners across industry, academia, government, and the non-profit space, who make our community so special. I am thankful to our Board of Directors for their partnership and guidance and the continued support of the Baker-Polito Administration and our legislature. But most of all, I am eternally indebted to my dynamic team of Andre, Alexis, Cheryl, Ciara, Jeanne, Nancy, Meghan, Hawa, Henrietta, Kylie, Shannon, Pierre, Joe, Carla, Ryan, Allyson, and Wayne.
I wish you all a healthy and restful holiday season and joyous New Year.
I look forward to what’s next.
Best,
Kenn Turner
