The BIO International Convention is the largest and most comprehensive event for biotechnology, representing the full ecosystem of biotech with 20,000 industry leaders from across the globe.

The vision of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) is to enable Massachusetts to own the #1 global life sciences position, defining the standard for medical research, industry partnerships and equitable healthcare delivery. Through a myriad of programs and initiatives, the MLSC aims to accelerate medical breakthroughs, scientific education, and research opportunities through a global ecosystem of private and public alliances and workforce expansion. The Center will also exercise its continued strength in convening, bringing together subject matter experts in innovation areas of interest where Massachusetts can lengthen its leadership. Join MLSC President and CEO Kirk Taylor as he previews the Center’s new advisory groups focused on preventative/personalized medicine, mental health, discovery, and cures. 

2:30 PM – 2:45 PM | Building Pathways – Advancing Workforce Development in Life Sciences  
Massachusetts is leading the way in creating inclusive career opportunities within the life sciences sector. This panel brings together Bioversity and Year Up, two organizations at the forefront of workforce development, to discuss their collaborative efforts in training and placing underrepresented talent into meaningful roles. Bioversity, a MassBio initiative, offers free, stipend-supported, 8-week certificate programs in Boston and Lowell, equipping individuals with the technical and professional skills needed for entry-level positions in scientific operations and manufacturing. Year Up complements this by providing young adults with the skills, experience, and support to reach their potential through internships and full-time employment opportunities. Together, these organizations are transforming the life sciences workforce landscape by breaking down barriers and building sustainable career pathways.
