Massachusetts Leaders Tour Thermo Fisher in Plainville, MA

This August, MLSC President and CEO Kirk Taylor, MD, joined Governor Maura Healey for an expansive visit of Thermo Fisher’s viral vector manufacturing facility. Joining President Taylor and Governor Healey for the tour of the 380,000 sq. ft. site was Interim Secretary of Economic Development Ashley Stolba, and MassBio CEO and President Kendalle Burlin O’Connell.

The Plainville, MA facility plays a key role for Thermo Fisher in advancing treatments for conditions such as bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Rett Syndrome, Hemophilia B, Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy, and Pompe Disease. Thermo Fisher employs approximately 3,500 employees throughout the Commonwealth, across 10 sites, including its global headquarters in Waltham, MA, in addition to sites in Tewksbury, Bedford, and Franklin.
