MLSC Celebrates HMS MEDscience Graduates

This August, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) team joined members of Harvard Medical School and HMS MEDscience leadership to celebrate the graduation of the 4th cohort of the MEDscienceLAB Pathmaker program. The cohort consisted of 10 training program graduates.

HMS MEDscience is one of the innovative life sciences career training initiatives funded through the MLSC Pathmaker program. The MEDscienceLAB Pathmaker program is designed to prepare participants for early-career laboratory roles in the life sciences industry. Trainees gain hands-on experience with essential laboratory techniques used in professional environments across the globe, such as micropipetting, gel electrophoresis, PCR, ELISA, and microscopy. Program trainees also develop foundational professional skills including resume writing, interviewing, and networking. Additionally, all trainees have the opportunity to spend time doing on-site, experiential learning with industry partners, including world-renowned hospitals and life science companies located in Massachusetts.

Since 2024, the MLSC has supported the HMS MEDscience training program through $479,398 in Pathmaker funding. Additionally, HMS MEDscience received a grant of $70,800 through the MLSC’s Workforce Development Capital Grant program in 2024 for its HMS MEDscience Workforce Development program, which complemented their Pathmaker grant.

The MLSC Pathmaker program funds industry-aligned training programs that address critical skills and talent supply gaps and connects skilled, diverse workers with life science career opportunities in Massachusetts.
