BIO 2022 – The Massachusetts Pavilion

The Massachusetts Pavilion was the place to be at BIO 2022. The MLSC teamed up with our partners at MassBio for another successful year at the 2022 BIO International Convention in San Diego, California. Both Team Massachusetts and the MLSC team were excited to showcase the Massachusetts ecosystem and engage attendees on why we are the global leader in the life sciences.

During BIO 2022, the Baker-Polito Administration and the MLSC announced $24.2 million in tax incentive awards to 36 life sciences companies. The awards, provided through the MLSC’s Tax Incentive program, are expected to create 1,581 new life sciences industry jobs in the Commonwealth. MLSC President and CEO Kenn Turner made the announcement during BIO and was joined by Justin Yang of Lyndra Therapeutics, a multi-year awardee of the Tax Incentive program.

The Center also announced $5.6 million to support 11 projects advancing innovations in therapeutic delivery and unlocking the potential of data science to answer pressing life sciences questions. Funding is also supporting the MLSC’s Women’s Health Initiative

The Massachusetts State of Possible booth hosted an array of talks covering the workforce pipeline, growth of manufacturing, international engagement, and building out an early-stage business plan. It was a privilege to have representatives of the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, Quinsigamond Community College, and Ginkgo Bioworks to discuss how the Commonwealth is building successful talent pipelines.

BIO 2022 also offered an opportunity to connect and reconnect with key stakeholders in the life sciences space. This included numerous MLSC partners including MassNextGen Entrepreneur Vera Hoffman, CEO of Reveal Pharmaceuticals. Reveal recently announced it has dosed the first subjects in a Phase 1 clinical trial of RVP-001.
