Application of AdvaMed’s Direct-to-Consumer Advertising Principles

While the current global health crisis prevents us from hosting this year’s Advertising and Promotion of Medical Devices Conference, we are pleased to deliver some of the most timely content in a virtual format. This three-part webinar series will highlight essential topics, including AdvaMed’s direct-to-consumer principles, current social media considerations and important legal and regulatory boundaries. Don’t miss out on this FREE virtual series.

Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising is an important tool to educate patients about medical technologies, especially advances that promote faster recovery and better outcomes (often, with lower costs). Leaders from Medtronic and Edwards Lifesciences will examine key DTC principles, including best practices and guardrails. Panelists will specifically discuss considerations when establishing a DTC campaign, substantiation of claims, and when and how to notify FDA of your DTC campaign.

Moderator: Sandy Kalter, Vice President and Chief Regulatory Counsel, FDA and Life Sciences, Environmental Health and Safety, Global Trade, Medtronic

Panelists:

  • Cassie Scherer, Senior Principal Legal Counsel, Enterprise Legal Regulatory, Medtronic
  • Janet Richardson, Vice President, Lead Regulatory Counsel and Privacy Officer, Edwards Lifesciences
