Biotech incubator Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives breaks ground on 10 new labs in Worcester, continuing growth of city’s life sciences industry

Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives is beginning an expansion of its facilities that will bring 10 new labs to Worcester, further adding to the city’s growing life sciences industry.

The biotech incubator purchased the building at 17 Briden St. last week, along with a neighboring building at 30 Garden St., for a total of $7.125 million, according to the Worcester Registry of Deeds. The space, which is the first building the company has owned since its creation in 1985, will offer labs and offices to biomedical manufacturing startups working on projects all the way from concept through clinical trial.
