David came to Bioversity with experience in both events management and real estate sales. He chose to apply to Bioversity’s eight-week training program, Biotech Career Foundations. David was hopeful the program would place him on a new professional career path that would align with his goal of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Informational Technology. David graduated from Bioversity in June of 2024 and soon after started his role at Abcam, a company that supplies protein research products.
After graduating from Bioversity, David embarked on his professional journey as a Logistics Technician at Abcam. From day one, he has been committed to adding value to his role, taking on responsibilities beyond his core duties to drive efficiency and collaboration within his team. By leading team meetings, training new hires, and assisting colleagues, David has developed essential leadership and problem-solving skills that contribute to the company’s collective success.
Recognizing the importance of career development and cross-functional knowledge, David seized the opportunity to join a mentorship program at Abcam.
“This experience has provided me with valuable insights into different departments, allowing me to explore diverse career paths within the life sciences industry,” said David. “Through mentorship, I have gained exposure to operations, IT integration, and business management, enhancing my understanding of how logistics support broader organizational goals.”
As David continues to grow professionally, he is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in IT and Business Management, which he will complete in Fall 2025. His goal is to leverage both his academic background and hands-on experience to transition into a hybrid role that bridges technology, business strategy, and operations. By integrating IT solutions into logistics and supply chain management, David aims to drive innovation and efficiency within the ever-evolving world of life sciences.
Bioversity has been supported through $750,000 in funding to train 65 students through the Massachusetts Life Science Center’s (MLSC) Pathmaker program.
