The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) recently joined the BioBuilder Educational Foundation at its Learning Lab in Allston to celebrate the graduation of the Foundation’s Spring 2026 cohort and the 10th anniversary of the BioBuilder High School Apprenticeship Challenge. Since 2016, the MLSC has supported the training of 170 BioBuilder students through the High School Apprenticeship Challenge.

With nearly $400,000 in MLSC support, BioBuilder opened its second Learning Lab last year at Allston Labworks, a mixed-use campus developed by King Street Properties. The space has expanded access to life sciences educational programming and workforce training opportunities, providing students, educators, and incumbent workers with hands-on biotechnology experience and exposure to careers in the life sciences.
Since inception, the MLSC has provided more than $1.3 million in total support for BioBuilder initiatives, including teacher professional development, pre-internship training through the High School Apprenticeship Challenge, and a Pathmaker cohort, helping strengthen the Commonwealth’s future life sciences workforce.
