ARC Awards Spotlight: Dr. Saeideh Nozohouri

The MLSC is proud to spotlight Saeideh Nozohouri, PharmD, PhD who was recruited to Massachusetts as a postdoctoral researcher to work on an MLSC-funded collaborative project between Northeastern University and Eli Lilly and Company. The project, awarded through the MLSC’s 2021 Novel Therapeutics Delivery program, funded $750,000 for Saeideh and the team at Northeastern to study nose-to-brain delivery of small interfering RNA (siRNA) through a Minimally Invasive Nasal Depot (MIND). Her research demonstrated that siRNA could be safely delivered to multiple regions of the brain in rodent models, where it remained functionally active and achieved gene silencing. Additionally, the findings also showed strong potential for clinical translation.

During her postdoc, Saeideh mastered in vivo techniques, worked with advanced drug modalities, and handled end-point sample analysis, data collection, and documentation. The expertise she gained through the MIND project ultimately helped her secure her current role as a Research Advisor at Eli Lilly.

Through the Accelerating Research through Collaboration (ARC) Awards, the MLSC supports workforce development by recruiting scientists like Saeideh and funds innovative research projects across all areas of the life sciences that address important scientific, technical, and product development challenges.
