Center celebrates completion of Loeb Laboratory renovations at MBL

The Center is celebrating completion of a $25 million renovation of the Loeb Laboratory, the Marine Biological Laboratory’s central research training facility, and the establishment of the new Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering. The renovation, funded by a $10 million grant from the Center that leveraged a $15 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), has transformed Loeb into a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a national resource for science training and discovery.

Cutting the ribbon at the newly renovated Loeb Laboratory Building are, from left to right, MBL Board Chair John Rowe, MBL Director & CEO Gary Borisy, MBL Catalyst Campaign lead campaign donor Millicent Bell, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President & CEO Susan Windham-Bannister, United States Senator John Kerry, State Senator Robert O’Leary, Congressman William Delahunt, and State Representative Timothy Madden.
