MLSC Celebrates 19th Annual MALSI Day

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC), in partnership with BioLabs, LabCentral, MassVentures, MassBio, and The Engine, recently welcomed entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and industry leaders to the 19th annual Massachusetts Life Sciences Innovation (MALSI) Day, one of the Commonwealth’s largest gatherings of life sciences startups and emerging ventures.

Held at The Engine in Cambridge, MALSI Day brought together members of Massachusetts’ thriving life sciences ecosystem for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussions, startup showcases, and networking. The event opened with welcome remarks from the organizing partners, including MLSC President & CEO Kirk Taylor, MD, and featured two panel discussions focused on the realities of building and scaling a life sciences company. Through candid conversations, panelists shared lessons learned, fundraising strategies, and insights on navigating the path from early-stage ideas to growing ventures.

The highlight of the day was the Startup Pitch Showcase, where 28 Massachusetts-based academic spinouts and emerging life sciences ventures presented their technologies to an audience of investors, industry experts, and ecosystem leaders while competing for two $2,000 awards.

Congratulations to this year’s winners: NanoVax Therapeutics, recipient of the Judges Award, and CLAIrVuEx, which was named the Audience Favorite.

The program concluded with a networking reception, giving attendees the opportunity to meet with colleagues, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. Next year, the event will mark its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of connecting the Massachusetts life sciences ecosystem.
