Against the backdrop of Massachusetts Biomedical Research Day (October 21), the Massachusetts Society for Medical Research recognized its 2014 Biomedical Research Leaders.
Hon. Deval L. Patrick, Governor of Massachusetts; Mr. Robert K. Coughlin; chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBIO); Ms. Lisa M. Garrett, teacher at the Norfolk County Agricultural High School; Dr. Michael J. Piatelli, adjunct professor at Merrimack College; Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister, chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and Dr. Robert A. Weinberg, founding member of the Whitehead Institute and professor at MIT, were recognized by MSMR for the depth of their contributions to biomedical research and education in the state and the entire region.
