Today, Just A Start has officially launched the Biotechnology Career Accelerator Program (BCAP), a nine-week intensive training for individuals with strong English, math, and digital literacy skills who are ready to enter careers in lab support and biomanufacturing. The new program builds on Just A Start’s 30+ years of biotechnology workforce training, offering a condensed, advanced curriculum aligned industry demands.
BCAP is fully funded by a $480,000 grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s (MLSC) Pathmaker Program and Healey-Driscoll Administration, which supports training programs that address critical skills and talent supply gaps in the life sciences field. The grant will support cohorts in the summers of 2025 and 2026, reaching up to 20 trainees each year as they prepare for sustainable careers in lab support and biomanufacturing.
This award was part of an announcement made by the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the MLSC in June, which awarded $7.2 million to create 656 life sciences training opportunities in Massachusetts. The MLSC Pathmaker Program funds industry-aligned training programs that address critical skills and talent supply gaps and connects skilled, diverse workers with life science career opportunities in Massachusetts.
