The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) team recently joined Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies to celebrate the graduation of 20 participants from the Winter 2025–2026 PathmakerBIO Lab Skills cohort at the Innovation Campus in Burlington, MA.

Through the MLSC’s Pathmaker program, Northeastern University has received over $2.6 million to deliver hands-on, industry-aligned training that prepares learners for entry-level roles in the life sciences. Over eight weeks, participants built foundational biotech skills in quality systems, safety protocols, and lab techniques, while earning Bioscience Core Skills Institute certifications and developing the professional skills employers across Massachusetts are looking for.
Upon graduation, the number of participants who felt career-ready more than doubled compared to the start of the program, and every graduate left with an updated resume, a complete LinkedIn profile, and a clear next step into the life sciences workforce.
Additionally, the MLSC has invested more than $5.3 million in Northeastern to support workforce development and establish training facilities. This includes a $4.27 million capital grant to establish and expand the Biopharmaceutical Analysis Training Laboratory, enabling hands-on training in biologics manufacturing and quality control for up to 1,000 students annually, as well as additional investments supporting community-based training and partnerships with leading industry employers.
Northeastern’s third Pathmaker cohort opens on May 19, at the Biopharmaceutical Analysis Training Laboratory in Burlington, MA. The program is free, includes up to $3,000 in stipend support, and requires no prior science background. The application deadline is Friday, May 1.
